Sean Curran    |   BOSTON

A principal associate of Waterville Consulting, Sean Curran is a public affairs and government relations professional with more than a decade of experience in state and local government, public education, nonprofit organizations, and political campaigns. In his leadership position at Waterville, he provides strategic planning and relationship building services to technology companies who wish to increase market share within state and local government.

As an experienced lobbyist, Sean represents a number of clients in a range of technology industries before the Massachusetts Legislature, at both the state and local levels. He has extensive experience in the complexities of the policymaking process, and develops winning strategies. Sean has played a central role in developing strong, effective partnerships between private technology corporations and public entities. He has advised clients on how to successfully navigate complex legislative and regulatory processes in the area of telecommunications and technology and fully understands public policy within the context of Massachusetts government.

Prior to founding Waterville Consulting in 2001, Sean worked for FH|GPC (formerly McDermott/O'Neill & Associates), New England's largest public affairs company representing more than one hundred corporate clients. As Vice President of Government Relations, he successfully managed FH|GPC's highly profitable technology practice for seven years. During his tenure, Sean championed the Commonwealth's concept of "best-value" technology solutions, and is currently recognized as one of the leading consultants to understand and merge the Commonwealth's IT vision with the technology opportunities provided by the private sector.

A strong interest in educational technology has made Sean an integral part of many important educational technology initiatives in the city of Boston and throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Among his past and present memberships are the Executive Board of BEST (Business and Education for Schools and Technology), the Mass NetDay Planning Council, and the Boston Link Technology Task Force. Curran plays a major role on the TechBoston initiative as an advisory board member. Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Education, TechBoston was established in 1998 by the Boston Public Schools (BPS) School-to-Career Program, and the Office of Instructional Technology. TechBoston offers advanced courses to equip BPS students with the high-tech skills essential for success in careers and post-secondary education. More than 2500 students and 150 teachers have successfully been trained through courses offered by TechBoston.
